I am making two announcements this week concerning Conferences that we are organising at IIUM. First is QS Academia on 5th May 2009 which will focus on contemporary issues confronting quantity surveying in academia, research, training and development.
This one day conference attempts to achieve the following key objectives:
* Promote the roles and functions of quantity surveyors in academia,
research, training and development
* Establish cooperation between quantity surveyors from within
academia and their industrial counterparts
* Exchange ideas and establish collaboration in harmonizing teaching,
learning and training of quantity surveyors among the different
institutions of higher learning, research and training.
* To identify challenges and constraints facing quantity surveyors in
academia and develop strategies to overcome these problems.

Professor Dr Chris Preece is based at the International Campus, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Kuala Lumpur. He was for 14 years at the University of Leeds, UK. His specialist research field is in the area of business and project management in the construction and engineering sectors. He is a recognized authority in international business development and marketing.
